Fact File

Men

• The most common form of hair loss in men goes by the name Male-pattern baldness (or Androgenic Alopecia) but is not unique to men.

• Male-pattern baldness is responsible for almost 90% of all men’s hair loss problems.

• By the age of 50, young by today’s standards, 50% of men will have lost hair due to this condition.

Women

• Female hair loss problems are more common than is generally believed. Some 4 million women are affected by thinning hair in Australia. That is 4 out of every 10 females!

• Thinning hair in females is likely the effect of hormonal changes and genetic predisposition; pregnancy, thyroid problems, and the menopause – all may contribute to gradual hair loss.

WHY DOES OUR HAIR THIN?

DiHydroTestosterone – the missing link

The cause of Androgenic Alopecia is, as its name implies, hormone related. Both men AND women have a genetic tendency towards having a by-product of the male hormone testosterone–called DiHydroTestosterone or DHT– exist within the scalp (females also naturally produce some testosterone in their bodies).

Hair follicles exhibit a natural cycle of growth and regrowth – with a period of dormancy in between. When DHT is present at high levels, this period of dormancy increases and thus the time for growth becomes shorter. As time progresses, the hair follicles begin to atrophy due to an excess of DHT. Before long, the follicles cease to produce new growths of hair.

A puzzling observation in men

In men (and men alone it seems), it is uniformly observed that hair follicles tend to resist the deleterious effects of DHT on the sides and the back of the head! DHT appears to affect the hair follicles on the top of the scalp to a much greater degree – even though present in the entire scalp.

THE SOLUTION: inhibiting DHT – with a 3-step proven formula

1. DEEP-CLEANING: removal of the build-up of DHT with a gentle but deep cleansingof the scalp and follicle pores

2. NUTRITION: supplying the follicles (topically and orally) with the needed nutrients to inhibit the production of further DHT

3. LASER LIGHT: provides nourishment and light energy to the hair follicles to resist atrophy and increase the length of the periods of new hair regrowth.
